Comments Policy

1. Purpose & Scope

This Comments Policy applies to all user-generated comments on TheZeal.co.nz. It reflects our commitment to data privacy, free/open-source philosophies, and robust discourse.

2. User Types & Commenting Limits

• Registered Members
  • Provide only a valid email address, password, and unique username.
  • May post comments and replies under their unique username without a preset limit.
• Guest Commenters
  • May post comments and replies without registration.
  • Limited to between 0 - 5 comments/replies per article.
  • Comments from guests may require moderator approval before appearing.

3. Privacy & Data Deletion

• When you delete your account, TheZeal.co.nz permanently and irreversibly erases your profile, email address, username, hashed password, IP logs, avatar, and all comments you have made.
• No deleted data can be recovered; no backups or archives containing personal data will be retained.

4. Content Guidelines & Prohibitions

Prohibited content includes, but is not limited to:

• Harassment & Threats: Stalking, bullying, doxing, or targeted abuse.
• Spam & Self-Promotion: Repetitive posts, unsolicited advertising, or irrelevant links.
• Adult/X-Rated Material: Explicit sexual content, R18 imagery, or adult themes. Mild, non-graphic profanity is tolerated.
• Copyright Infringement: Posting text or media you do not own or have permission to share.
• Legal Violations: Defamation, breach of suppression orders, or incitement to unlawful acts.
• Graphic Violence: Gratuitous gore or descriptions intended to shock.

5. Reporting & Moderation

• Reporting: Click “Report” on any comment to alert our moderation team.
• Review: Valid reports are reviewed within 48 hours wherever possible.
• Liability Disclaimer: Comments express individual users’ views; TheZeal.co.nz disclaims all liability for user-generated content.

6. Enforcement & Remedies

• Removal of Content: TheZeal.co.nz reserves the right to remove any guest or member posts at its sole discretion, with or without notice.
• Warnings: Minor infractions receive a written warning.
• Suspension/Blocking: Serious or repeated violations result in temporary suspension or permanent blocking of the account.
• Refunds: If you have paid any optional fees, refunds for suspended accounts are granted at TheZeal’s sole discretion.
