Avengers: Endgame Encore Passes US$89 Million as Doomsday Hype Builds
No. 1 Worldwide Ahead of Doomsday
Avengers: Endgame Encore has passed US$89 million at the worldwide box office, seven years after the original film was released, while giving audiences a new look at Avengers: Doomsday.
The re-release opened at No. 1 worldwide with an estimated US$86 million, including US$26 million domestically and US$60 million internationally. Disney described it as the second-highest global debut ever for a theatrical re-release.
Box Office Mojo now puts the 2026 re-release at more than US$89.6 million worldwide.
But Endgame Encore is also serving as a bridge to Marvel’s next Avengers film, with new footage connecting Endgame to Doomsday.
Disney has confirmed that one scene sees Loki come knocking on Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter. Another shows Doctor Doom collecting Bruce Banner for reasons not yet explained.
At the Time Variance Authority, Mobius, Casey and OB watch the Multiverse collapse through a chain of concurrent incursions.
Co-director Joe Russo described the sequence as “sort of the end of times”, saying the footage shows thousands of universes ending within seconds.
Marvel is keeping more surprises hidden. Anthony Russo has confirmed that the full Doomsday cast has not been announced, with the film bringing together characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Talokan, Thunderbolts, Wakandans and X-Men.
TheZeal previously reported that Doomsday passed AUD$1 million in Australian ticket presales within its first 24 hours, according to figures supplied by Disney.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in New Zealand on December 17, with advance screenings beginning December 16.
